Well, it happened, the clutch went on my 1991 Honda Accord (from what I can tell) this afternoon on my way home from school :(. Since I barely have any money, it should get interesting…
After the big snow storm the other day there is word of another one going to hit tomorrow and Saturday morning, booooo. It’s not the snow I mind as much as all the other people on the roads who don’t know how to drive! Should make for an interesting day and a fun, full night of delivering.
I’m sure many of you have seen those “Out of a Job Yet? Keep Buying Foreign” bumper stickers. They can mostly be seen on dirty Fords driven by some incompetent hick.
Why the attitude you ask? Because people sure are quick to slap one of those stickers on before finding out some facts.
Here’s what I would like to see (copywrite :P):
And here’s some Honda Canada Fun Facts for a good read (read the rest here).
• Honda of Canada Mfg. (HCM) produces 390,000 vehicles annually
• 82% of Honda and Acura vehicles sold in Canada in 2006 were produced in North America
• 75% of HCM produced vehicles in Canada are exported for the North American market
• Committed to our environment – Honda, our Associates and their families have helped plant over 71,000 trees in Canada over the last 5 years
• HCM recycles 100% of its production waste
• Honda investment exceeds $2.4 billion in Canadian operations
•HCM sources $2 billion in goods yearly from Canadian suppliers
• HCM purchases parts from 271 North American suppliers; 64 suppliers or 25% are from Ontario Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM)
Huh, weird isn’t it? There’s more info in the PDF linked above for you to read.
I know it sucks to hear about these plants closing closing down and the thousands losing their jobs, but seriously, perhaps you should blame the people YOU are working for! Why? Because THEY are the ones that can’t compete and are unwilling to change their ways (in terms of vehicle reliability, safety, gas mileage, etc…) compared to the “import” market. Why? So they can keep a couple “real Americans” happy with their V8s, big tires, and gun racks?
Don’t blame those driving imports, they’re the smart ones, the only idiots are you tools with these bumper stickers slapped on the back of your cars and trucks without having any sort of clue about the world. I suggest this, either go back to school and get an education, or apply at one of the Mazda, Honda, Toyota, and anything other “foreign” car plant there is around, because I guarantee that your good ol’ buddy Ford and GM aint goin’ to be gettin’ any better soon.
Got the car back yesterday, seems the noise that I thought was coming from the tranny was just really the heat shield that was loose underneath the car. It was just weird because the sound only happened around 1500 rpms and sounded like something was grinding….oh well, it’s fixed now and both the Accord and I are now happy.
Car is in the shop right now, awaiting an oil change and some other things to be checked out Monday morning. I was sitting at just over 357 600 kms when I took it over.
On a completely different note, here’s a video of some exotics getting onto a freeway (with some not-so-exotics thrown in the bunch). Enjoy!
